Primary: Leadgate Eden Colliery Cup Final

St Bede’s RC win in style

St Bede’s RC Primary School, Sacriston (Chester-le-Street PSFA) making their debut in the Leadgate Eden Colliery Cup were worthy winners of this season's competition.

The other competing schools in the final were:

  • Easington CE Primary School (Peterlee PSFA)
  • Esh CE Primary School (Durham City PSFA)
  • St Joseph’s RC Primary School, Murton (Seaham PSFA)

After two blocks of matches had been played the four teams could not be separated as points, goal difference and goals scored were identical.

The final round of matches were exciting affairs as the four schools were in with a chance of winning the cup.

It was second half burst of goals from St Bede’s that gained them victory over Esh CE. Easington CE put in a determined performance to overcome St Joseph’s.

In the end St Bede’s emerged as winners of the competition on goal difference with Easington CE runners-up.

St Bede’s will represent DCSFA in the North Region round of the ESFA Danone Nations Small Schools’ Soccer Sevens.
