Durham recover from being 3-1 down to win

Posted by: allan

Tia McKitterick was the goal scoring heroine as Durham progressed into the quarter-finals of the ESFA PlayStation U14 Girls Inter-County Trophy.

Playing their first competitive match of the season Durham were ahead after 2 minutes when Tia McKitterick opened her account.

However, by the 9th minute, Cleveland had a two-goal lead when Libby Waller, Katie Wilson and Sacha Milward took advantage of lapses in the visitors’ defence.

Two goals in 3 minutes from Tia McKitterick, to complete her hat trick, brought Durham level. Tia added a fourth 5 minutes before the break to give the visitors the lead at half time.

Durham quickly settled into their stride in the second half. By the 44th minute they had increased their lead further through goals from Courtney Mole and Ellie Jane Laidler.

Durham had other opportunities to add to their tally but were unable to convert the openings they created.

Cleveland always looked dangerous on the break but their second half shooting was wayward.

Courtney Mole, in the 61st minute, scored her second goal of the match to secure victory for Durham.
