U16 Boys: Durham 8 North Yorkshire 4

A good start to the season

Posted by: allan

Durham began their Northern Counties season with victory over North Yorkshire in high-scoring, entertaining game.

By the 20th minute North Yorkshire had taken the lead on three occasions but within a short space of time of the visitors scoring Durham repeatedly equalised.

Durham took the lead, which they never relinquished, in the 24th minute and added a further goal shortly before half time.

The home team went further ahead before North Yorkshire made the score 6-4.

In the final 10 minutes Durham increased the margin of victory by scoring twice to finish winners by 8 goals to 4.

Durham were indebted to James Cleugh (Gateshead SFA) who scored 5 goals. Alexander Humble (Gateshead SFA), Charlie Loveday (Chester-le-Street, Washington & Derwentside SFA) and Charlie Twinn (Bishop Auckland SFA) were the other goalscorers.

This was only Durham’s second victory over North Yorkshire in their last seven meetings.
