U16 Girls: Durham 0 Northumberland 12

A heavy defeat

Posted by: allan

Durham suffered their heaviest ever defeat at the hands of long-standing rivals Northumberland.

Northumberland got off to a good start by scoring twice in the opening 10 minutes.

Durham did not let this early set back affect their play as they gave the visitors defence some troubling moments but were unable to score.

Four minutes before the interval the visitors increased their lead.

The home team were unfortunate not to score in the 54th minute when a free kick, taken by Katy Watson, hit the post.

From the 55th minute Northumberland went on a goal scoring spree as they added a further six goals in a 13-minute spell. This demoralised the home team.

In the final 4 minutes Northumberland took advantage of Durham’s lack of confidence by scoring another four goals.
