PRIMARY NEWS

Associations

HARRISON CUP (20.12.25)

In a tight game Newcastle gained victory over Chester-le-Street by a one goal margin. This win gave Newcastle a clear advantage at the top of the group. The game between South & West Northumberland and Sunderland was highly entertaining with the Wearsiders eventually emerging victorious.

DERWENT & MEDOMSLEY CUP (29.11.25)

The Round 1 tie, in which North Tyneside travelled to play East Northumberland & Berwick, resulted in a win for North Tyneside. This victory earned North Tyneside a home tie against South & West Northumberland in Round 2.

Other Round 2 matches are Sunderland v Chester-le-Street, Newcastle v Stockton or Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland v South Tyneside

ESFA INTER-ASSOCIATION CUP

Sunderland progressed in to Round 4, which is the last 16, of this competition by beating York. The tie was goalless at half time but second half goals from the Wearsiders secured the win. Their reward for their victory is a home tie against Rotherham.

Schools

LEADGATE EDEN COLLIERY CUP

Having topped their respective group St Cuthbert’s RC (Sunderland PSFA) and Dame Dorothy Primary School (Sunderland PSFA) contested a closely fought final with St Cuthbert's winning by the narrowest of margins. This is the second time St Cuthbert's have won this trophy. The last time they did so was in season 2021-22 when Dame Dorothy were, once again, their opponents.

St Cuthbert's will now represent DCSFA in the North Region round of the ESFA Small Schools’ Cup.

ESFA SCHOOLS' CUP FOR GIRLS

By winning their respective group both St Joseph's Catholic Primary School (Blaydon PSFA) and St Aloysius RC Federation (South Tyneside PSFA) were playing in the final of this competition for the first time. St Joseph's emerged victorious and will represent DCSFA in the North Region round of the ESFA Schools’ Cup for Girls.

DANIEL O'HARE MEMORIAL TROPHY

Currently the artificial pitch at Chester-le-Street Riverside is covered in snow so the final due to be played on Thursday 8th January is postponed. The final is rearranged for Thursday 15th January commencing at 3.45pm.

Schools participating in the final are John F Kennedy Primary School (Washington PSFA), Easington Colliery Primary School (Peterlee PSFA), St Mary’s RC, Whickham (Blaydon SFA), Bowburn Primary School (Durham City PSFA), St Mary’s RC, Sunderland (Sunderland PSFA), Bernard Gilpin Primary School (Lambton & Hetton PSFA), Harlow Green Primary School (Felling PSFA) and St Margaret's CE Primary School (Chester-le-Street PSFA).

The teams will be divided into two groups. The schools finishing top of each group will play for the right to represent DCSFA in the North Region round of the ESFA Schools’ Cup.
