  • Retired as a player but continued as manager of Everton until 1987. In this period the club won the League Championship on 2 occasions (1984-85 and 1986-87), FA Cup (1983-84), European Cup Winners' Cup (1984-85) and FA Charity Shield (1984-85, 1985-86, 1986-87). In 1984-85 and 1986-87 Howard was voted Manager of the Year. He managed Everton for two further spells: 1990-93 and 1997-98.
